This course is divided into 2 main sections:       

 

The first half (Choosing Your DI Programs) focuses on using your preferences and insider information to select and rank programs that best suit you. The more information you gain in the beginning, the better off you will be. Follow the guides and activities to learn all the strategies and pieces of information that will help you select and apply.

Finding your best matches increases your chance of matching.

The second half (DI Application & Materials) focuses on the application process, scheduling, components, and composition.  Learn the strategies, tips, and methods to make your application stand above the others.  Avoid the common pitfalls.  Use the instruction, guides, examples, and templates to help you complete your application with confidence.

PRESENTATION-BASED MODULES

Detailed presentations provide more information on the content of the videos. With a self-paced component, the learner is able to advance through the audio/visual lecture at their own pace, repeat as needed, and listen or read the transcript. Dr. Golem provides the information, tips, and strategies that she has learned from her experience on DI selection committees, as a DPD Director, and as an advisor to hundreds of students who are now RDNs.

 

GUIDES, TEMPLATES, & EXAMPLES

This course is accompanied with multiple guides that aligns with the step-by-step guidance provided in the presentations. Learners will use the guides to complete activities designed to help them.

 

The activities are designed to provide step-by-step guidance and breakdown the application process into manageable steps.

 

Dr. Devon L. Golem, PhD, RD

Dr. Golem is an experienced dietetics educator and dietitian.  She has been in the field for nearly 15 years and has advised hundreds of internship applicants and thousands of dietetic students.  Dr. Golem has experience as a clinician, researcher, educator, administrator, and Director of a Didactic Program in Dietetics at New Mexico State University where she taught a DI application course amongst the other dietetic courses.  

 

"I feel that the future success of our field is dependent on the individuals that enter it.  Dietetic internships are competitive, but those who want to learn the most will move forward!"

 

Dr. Golem has consistently been the member of DI selection committees for the past 9 years.  With her experience as a noted expert in her field, Dr. Golem brings an insightful perspective to internship applicants and dietetic pre-professionals.  

 

In 2015, she was awarded as the 'Dietetic Educator of the Year' by the New Mexico Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She was also awarded as the 'Advisor of the Year' by her students at New Mexico State University in 2015. In 2016, she founded the Institute of Continuing Education for Nutrition Professionals.
